Frequently Asked Questions About Us

Do you give free estimates?
Yes, our initial consultations and estimates are free.

How much will my new deck cost?
Every deck is different, but to give you an idea, a standard low level 12' x 16' (192 sf) pressure treated deck with a basic railing will cost approximately $3,000, but please give us a call to get an accurate estimate. This number may be high or low depending on the deck you want. We’ll work with you and your budget to design a deck your happy with.

I would love to have a huge beautiful deck, but can only afford a small one right now. Do I have any options?
Yes you do. We can design the deck that you really want and break it into smaller sections, when you want to add on, just give us a call.

Why do you think your decks are better than the next guys?
Our decks are built to a minimum of 50 psf Live Load (people, furniture, wind, etc.) and 10 psf Dead Load (structure), which is more than most residential home floor loads. We use industry leading details for framing and hand rail connections to stay on top of the latest designs to insure your safety without sacrificing the appearance of your deck. We offer one of the strongest warranties and offer some of the best products on the market. We also have an eye for detail, providing accents and details that fully enhance the appearance of your deck. Bring all that together with great customer service and quality craftsmanship and you’ll understand why we think your experience with us will exceed your expectations.

How long will my deck take to complete?
There are a lot of factors that control that, like the size, complexity, weather, etc. A small simple deck may take a couple of days, where a large complicated deck might take a few weeks. We will outline your specific construction schedule in your contract.

I have a deck, but it’s old and not very attractive anymore can you just renovate it?
Yes we can, and this is a less expensive way to bring life back into your old deck. As long as it is structurally sound, we can replace the old railing and deck boards to get your deck looking as good as new. We’ll also evaluate the structure and add brackets and reinforce connections to make sure your deck meets current code.

Are you insured?
Absolutely! We can provide proof of insurance upon request.

What size framing do you use?
On a normal deck, we like to use double 2x8 beams on 6x6 posts with 2x8 joists and 5/4x6 deck boards.

Does my deck need to have a railing?
Most decks less than 30” above the ground do not require a handrail, but they are a good idea to keep your deck safe, control the flow of traffic, isolate design spaces and improve the overall appearance of your deck.

Do I need to protect my treated wood deck?
Pressure treated wood is only protected against insects and rot. You’ll still need to stain it to protect against the UV rays that cause the graying you see so often.

Do you offer maintenance service?
Yes, we offer maintenance services on all the decks we build or renovate. We can discuss your options once your deck is complete.

What kind of permitting do I need?
Most counties require building permits for a deck. We will obtain this for you, but we will need you to supply some information and plot plan for us to do so. If you live in a housing community, you may also need to get approval from your HOA.

What are my responsibilities as the Homeowner while you are building my deck?
We will need you to provide access to a hose bib for water for the concrete footings, electric outlets for power tools, and a staging area designated for material deliveries.

What kind of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, money order, certified check or pay securely online with a credit card with PayPal.

Do you have a warranty and what does it cover?
We offer a 5 year warranty covering all craftsmanship and labor performed under the contract. All material is guaranteed as specified by the manufacturer. Treated lumber usually carries a lifetime warranty against termite and rot damage, and with the exception of LP Weatherbest (10 Year), all of our composites carry at least a 25 year Limited warranty.
