This design usually forms a walkway or passageway area that is comprised of pillars or posts, which then support cross beams that will sometimes have lattice attached to them. They are available in many different sizes and will usually be crafted from sturdier woods including Northern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar, Southern Cypress, Meranti Mahogany, Southern Yellow Pine, and also teak. Along with the wood options, they can also be made from heavy duty synthetic materials including plastic or polymer and recycled plastic or polymer. One of the name brand recycled plastics is EnviroWood, which is engineered to look and feel like classic wood. All of these materials are extremely durable and very resistant to the weather, so, once you put your pergola in place, you will not have to worry about replacing it since it is there to stay.
